I am an observer. I break things down and look from different points of view. My sculpture and tableware share that perspective. When I design a collection for a restaurant or a patron, I interview them. The art is connecting ideas to clay.
Clay remembers how it was shaped before the fire. Memories have dimensions, place, and play. After the fire, a plate is just a plate until it is used. It is play that allows it to continue to change.
Play has many definitions, most of which involve a physical motion. For me, play is also the movement and direction of thought. It gives me the freedom and curiosity to see the world in a different way.
Be happy with choices by understanding why they were made.
